Do Inflamed Tonsils With White Pustules Indicate Strep Throat?

I have swollen lymph nodes on both sides, the right side is bigger. My tonsils are inflamed with brown and white pustules on them, and the pain is incredible at times, when I m medicated it s not as bad, my question is... Does this sound like strep to you? I have a weeks worth of keflex that isn t expired that my mother gave to me a while back being a nurse, she thought they may come in handy now that I m out on my own. So if this seems to be strep I will start the antibiotics immediately. Also, I don t have insurance otherwise I would just go to a physician myself, no problem.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of inflamed tonsils with white pustules which is due to streptococcus infection or tonsillitis and lowered immunity of your body. Body has become more susceptible and prone to get infected with streptococcus which is a very common occurrence. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may prescribe stronger antibiotics (azithromycin) for longer duration .or recommend tonsillectomy. For now do betadine gargles 2-3 times a day .
