Do Itchy Hands And Feet Post Treatment For Rickettsial Infection Require Medication?

My brother 40 year of age was suffering from fever .weil flix +ve and widal test was also +ve.Now having been treated with azithromycin and paraxim 500, fever is ok on day 7 but now he is suffering from itching on feet and hands (mild) Is there any risk.

first, rule out an allergic reaction. look for hives, patches of redness, bumps or swelling, etc.

second, the itchy palms and feet may be a side effect of one of the medications or of a combination of medications. or it may be a side effect of the infection.

i would investigate first the paraxim 500.

paraxim is a diuretic, which can lead to dehydration. dehydration can affect blood pressure and circulation. in this way, via dehydration/poor circulation, paraxim 500 may indirectly cause itchy palms and feet.

its not of much concern as i gather information from your history. itchy rashes are part of the ricketssial infections. just you can take Tab ALLEGRA OD HS for 5 days, and apply lotion CALYDRIL BD over affected areas.
