Do Light Spotting, Delayed Periods And Mood Swings Indicate Pregnancy?

I had my tubes tied 12 years ago. My November menses was 3 weeks late, extremely light and short lived. My December menses consisted of VERY light spotting for half a day. I ve been extremely emotional and constantly exhausted. I m 36 and have always been able to set a clock by my cycle. What is the likelihood I m pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
Failure/ recanalisation of ligated tubes after 12 years of ligation seems to be a rare incidence..Your menstrual irregularity seems to be some other cause like PCOD/ Ovarian or thyroid problem/ early menopause. It needs to be confirmed after investigations like -
- Urine pregnancy test to exclude pregnancy.
- USG abdomen would point out PCOD/ Ovarian problem? uterine fibroid.
- Thyroid function test would diagnose thyroid problem.,
- Hormonal assay-- would diagnose early menopause.
Specific medication after diagnosis would help in regulating your menstrual cycles.
Thanks.
Thanks.
