Do Low Blood Sugar Levels Cause Chills?

I am in the midst of prep for a coloscopy tomorrow. I am type 2. This morning upon rising, my bs was 69. it gradually increased during the day to a high of 93. As I was drinking the prep I decided to check my bs which was 45. Absolutely zero symptoms. However I had and still have significant chills. Are chills a symptom of of low blood sugar. Most recent bs was 70. Drank orange juice. Afraid to go to sleep for fear that it will drop back down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am afraid that your chills are a symptom of low blood sugar. So I will suggest you have a regular check of your blood sugar and then discuss with your doctor the possibility to change medication (their dosage).

You should relax because feeling afraid does not help in this case. I hope everything goes alright for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Elona Dashi
