So I was cooking some chicken in the oven, and foolishly left a plastic cover for the pan (used to cover left overs, not cook) on while in the oven. When I checked the half way mark for the chicken, the plastic cover had melted, and collapsed down over the chicken, however appeared to not be touching it. With the plastic removed, and a new pan, is it safe to continue cooking and eating of my potentially tasty meal ? Or are the fumes of the melted plastic an issue ? It does smell distinctly gross
