Do Menstrual Cycles Become Irregular Post Intake Of Emergency Contraceptive Pills?
Me and my bf had sex last month .He use condom 1st time but in 2nd time he didn't use condom but his sperm fell outside. For this I took medicine nd in Nov I had 2 times period nd now i want to know what will happen to next week when will my period start??
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Yes menstrual cycles can become irregular post intake of emergency contraceptive pills. This is due to high dose of levogestrol hormone contained in an emergency contraceptive pill. But this irregularity happens for 1 or 2 cycles only. Next time you should have regular period once a month. You had two periods after emergency pill intake, because for one time you had breakthrough bleeding & second time your normal period. Breakthrough bleeding occur normally with in 3 weeks of the emergency pill intake. This is a normal feature of emergency pill intake. Use condom or regular contraceptive pill as method of conception in future. Taking more emergency contraceptive pills can cause problems like irregular periods, ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome & even infertility.
If problem persists consult a gynaecologist Hope this information helps
