Do Oral Thrush, Fever And Lethargy In An Infant Need Medical Attention?
My son is ten months old and has a mild case of thrush. He didn't have a fever until today and tonight he is very lethargic with 100.6. But just hrs before bed he was playing as normal. Now at 230am has been just laying in bed for 30 Minutes or so. Should I take to hospital
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
Infants have a less developed immune system and it is the cause for recurring infections and opportunistic infections like Oral Thrush.. that can be due to viral infection and you said that he has a mild case of thrush, therefore you need not to worry as with proper management it will get resolved soon..
You should take him to a Paediatrician and get him evaluated..
He can be advised Acetaminophen to reduce fever and along with it antifungal mouth drops and antifungal mouth paint like Candid to resolve fungal infection.. Probiotics like Yoghurt can also be given in abundance to resolve thrush.. Feed him with plenty of fluids and give appropriate rest..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
