Do Pain And Pimple On The Cheek Indicate Infection?

I have a lady friend that s 50. She s missing a tooth and recently has had a lot of pain on one side of her inner mouth. Outside shows four small pimple type marks that she keeps scratching, making it inflamed and worse. Could it be some sort of infection? I wish I could help her at least relieve her pain. Any ideas? YYYY@YYYY Thanks, Dan

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain her problem of pain inside mouth and pimples on face are two different issues although both can occur due to infection but different infections..
Pain inside the mouth can be due to some conditions like tooth infection, gum problems and/or nerve oriented pain..
While the pimples occur due to a few conditions like infection, obliteration of sebaceous glands, excess production of sebum, inflammatin and hormonal changes like in case of pregnancy, menstruation and menopause..

As your friend is into menopausal stage and it can be a cause of pimples..

She can apply Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid containing ointments or gels..
-Isotretinoin containing gels as it helps in reducing sebum production..
-Azelic acid containing gels as it has antibacterial action..
-Clindamycin ointment can b applied as it is antibacterial..
-Wash the face with mild soap and luke warm water..
-Avoid oily food and also non veg..

For dental pain consult a dentist and get evaluated and treatment will be planned according to the diagnosis..
As of now for pain you can take Ibuprofen for relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
