Do Protien Supplements Cause Elevated Liver Enzymes?
Hi I am concerned about my liver. I had blood work and ALT was 49 (range 9-46). Then my doctor did an ultrasound and this one was a fatty infiltration of the liver. I am 26 years old, 135 pounds and 5.4 height. Last year the results were normal. I have been taking protein powder and testosterone booster for the last two months. Could this have an effect on the liver?
Your symptoms seem to be related to liver damage due to protein supplements use. Extra protein can do more harm than good. Some of the side-effects can include nausea as well as kidney and liver damage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
