Do Ruptured Waterbags Have Any Effect On The Fetus During Pregnancy?
Hi I was wondering I got my Diprofos shots when I was on my 29th week because my waterbag was slightly ruptured. But I was able to continue my pregnancy because the rupture healed. So is there any bad effect on my baby since she had her lungs matured earlier than expected.. I am already in 34th week of my pregnancy. Please help me enlighten a bit.
Ruptured amniotic layers (waterbag) can happen prematurely and in this case, the woman needs to be followed up closely. The major risk is if the infection goes up and infects the amniotic layers and the endometrium and this may be a great risk for the baby as well. This is why any pain, fever or abnormal secretions should prompt an urgent check with your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
