Do Spreading Itchy Bumps And Blisters On The Body Suggest Hives?
I think I may have a case of hives, they are small red bumps that have a blister on top and itch like crazy and are spreading, only in clusters. I have allergies to begin with and I have taken benedryl and using cortisone cream for the itch. What else can I use beside the benedryl because it knocks me out. Have too much to do to be sleeping.
Your symptoms do seem to suggest hives. Antihistaminics work best as they work directly on the hormone causing the itching and red bumps. You can try newer Antihistaminics like levocetrizine and fexofenadine which cause less sleepiness. These are available over the counter in many countries. For local application for the itch, you can try calamine lotion before cortisone cream as prolonged usage of the latter may cause thinning of the skin.
It may also help using hypoallergenic sheets or investigate for any bugs like bed bugs.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
