Do Statins Reduce The Incidence Of Strokes?

I want opinions on the use of "statins" after a stroke. Have had mixed opinions from the four doctors at my medical centre and when reading on the natural health papers they frown on the use of statins. How do I know if they are right for me? I have had a stroke 3 years ago, am now 59yr old female with no real aftereffect other than muscle pain and "heavy leg" feeling, although this doesn't cause me to limp.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Yes statins can be helpful in reduction of strokes. This is only when the patients has hypercholesteremia( high cholesterol in blood), or imbalance in ldl & hdl cholesterol. In these two problems stroke or heart disease can occur due to cholesterol deposition in blood vessels
If the patient has normal level of cholesterol then statin usage is not recommended.

Refer to your physician
Hope this information helps
