Do The Adenoids Need Removal Due To Ear Infection History?
my child is 13 now but at the age of 5 had grommets inserted in his ears due to recurring ear infections, partial deafness and lots of fluid buildup. He now suffers and has for a few months with headaches - almost daily. He apparently has large adenoids but to my knowledge does not snore or have difficulty breathing. He is also wearing glasses for astigmatism and convergence problems mainly in the left eye. Apart from possible sinus headaches is there any connection with the ears due to the long history of ear infections, and should the adenoids be removed
Hello number one indication for adenoid removal is obstructive sleep ,which he seems not to have. I would not recommend its removal as usually adenoids go by the age of 15 years. give him symptomatic treatment and a nasal spray. Thank you
