Do The Effects Of Lidocaine Take Long To Wear Off?

I received a cortisone injection with lidocaine in my thigh to treat acute thigh and groin pin...I believe the rectus muscle was the target point. The lidocaine has made my leg nunb. How long does it take the lidocaine to wear off? I almost fell on a step. thanks.

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

The numbing sensation typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes. Since Novocaine by itself has a very short duration of action, it's often used in conjunction with epinephrine (adrenaline) to make the effects last a little longer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
