Do The Presence Of Fatty Liver And ALT Level Of 82 Suggest Cirrhosis?

hello doctor ,my father was diagnosed child a cirrhosis with grade 3 fatty liver and minimally coarse echotexture with AST 51 and ALT 82 portal vein diametre 10 mm with slightly high LDL and cholesterol.he has also mild oesophageal varices.Is it a case of cirrhosis?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

With the reports you have posted as Grade 3 fatty liver and minimal echo texture as observed in ultrasound scan, High LDL and Cholesterol in lipid profile with raised AST and ALT levels suggests that he is progressing into liver cirrhosis.

Since the portal vein is 10mm and mild esophageal varices is seen, he is progressing into portal hypertension as well.

At this stage it cannot be labelled as cirrhosis, but it can be stated that the condition is progressing towards development of cirrhosis.
