Doctor: I believe I picked up a particularly virulent strain of some sort of fungus from a public bathroom a few weeks ago. The exterior of my vagina is inflamed with a burning itch. My PCP prescribed OTC ointments and an anti-biotic, all of which have failed. I am in agony. Reminds me of a horrid athlete's foot I had years ago which took forever to treat successfully. I am 81-yr old female in good health.
