Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently diagnosed with very low kidney functions. I have been taking acifex and then delexiant for the last 7 years or more. I stopped taking any 3 days ago. I heard on the news that anti acids can cause kidney failure. Is it the same for all anti acids?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Both medicine are proton pump inhibitors (rabeprazole and lansoprazole respectively). PPIs do not cause renal failure but these should be use with caution in patients with renal impairment. Your treating physician will adjust dosage according to your creatinine clearance if you need any. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any question you are most wellcome.
Wish you good health.
