hi doctor my son is 22 months now when he was 5 months old he was detected with a 10mm asd the cardiologist told us to wait till 2 years for the surgery and regular examination meanwhile his ASD has decreased to 8mm do you think this help is it possible this ASD close by itself.
Hi, yes ASD (Atrial septal defect) may close by itself if the ASD is of secundum type. You should do an echocardiography yearly which will guide you whether its closing or not. Revert back with initial echocardiography and latest echocardiography report. Take care.
