Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My daughter was diagnosed with a 6mm ASD at 1 month old. We just went back for her 1 year check up and while we haven t talked to the dr about the Echo that was repeated at this appointment, we did get to talk to the nurse. The nurse says the ASD is now measuring between 9-10mm. Is that normal, or even possible for the ASD to grow? And will it continue to grow? What size ASD is this considered? And should it be repaired?
It can enlarge with the growth if the heart size and child It should be closed – to avoid Pulmonary Hypertension and paradoxical embolism It could probably be closed without surgery (by catheter) Discuss with Paediatric Intervention Cardiologist
Take care Good luck
