Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can accupril 10 mg cause chronic bowel irritation that results in watery stools? I stared take Zesteril 10 mg and used it many years (5-6) then switched to Accupril about 3 years ago. I worked for Pfizer and they supply Pfizer drugs free to retirees. The watery stools symptom started in January this year. It started as occasional watery stools and when a BM is needed, there is no warning to find a commode immediately. There is no blood in the stools (checked by my doctor in March). That isymptom s annoying. I saw my my gastroenterologist in September-October and he suggested I take Immodium 2 mg in the AM to see if it helps. It does, but not stop the watery stools. I take Toujero and Victoza injections in the AM and 2x a day metformin 1 gm each dose. I also take lipitor 10 mg daily. I am a male 78 years old.
First you should know that are some of these drugs that you use that cause diarrhea. It is known that Accupril, metformin and lipitor can cause diarrhea as common side effects. So, you should talk with a gastroenterologist and to tell him for these medication and if you need to change some of them.
I hope my answer help you. I will be happy to assist if you have further queries. I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards, Dr. Monika Dede
