Does Actalin Interact With Levothyroxine?

I suffer from hypothyroidism and have been on levothyroxine for the last three years. Am also a hepatitis B patient but not ready for treatment. Can I also take Actalin? My doctor asked me to be cautious on taking any herbal preparation. Thanks, Jeremy.

Hi Dear ! Thank you for posting your question here.

I would say that your doctor is right, you have to be carefull of taking herbal drugs cause they have Iodine as an ingredient among others .
And Actalin containe Iodine that normally is good for the thyroid function , stimulate thyroid to produce hormons.
But while you are taking hormons from the pills ( levothyroxine ) is not good to start Actalin without checking thyroid hormon levels( T4, T3 TSH) . first
.Cause this drug Actalin can cause hyperthyroidism while you are taking Levothyroxine.
I would recommend to check your thyroid function (hormonal test ) and according to the result will decide the changes ( dosage of levothyroxine or calculatin the dosage of Actanil )
