Does Acyclovir Cause Tingling Sensation In The Leg?

Hello, My doctor put me on a medication called Acyclovir 800mg. I do not have any kind of rash or sores anywhere, The only symptom he is going by is a tingling in the inside of my left left (about 8-10 inches) I developed this pain on June 10, 2018 after a fall and being diag with bulged disc and sciatica down my leg. My question is...the medication that he put me on is causing MORE tingling and burning sensation in that area. I m not sure if this is a side effect from the RX? I am questioning my Dr s diagonosis. Can you please advise? Thank you

Hi,

Acyclovir if mentioned correctly in history, then this drug is for anti viral infection. if the physician have prescribed the drug he may have found some viral infection while your complaint. Since you have the past history of radiating pain I think you should start the exercises for stabilizing the core, strengthening the muscles of the spine and lower limbs.

I think the tingling is due to the disc injury and needs exercises to be done to have control to the symptoms. once the symptoms starts reducing you can cross check with he Physician to continue or discontinue the medicine given. In my clinical practice of over 12 years most cases with sciatica respond well to exercise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
