Does Adderall Cause Hoarseness And Voice Disorders?

I am a speech pathologist specializing in voice disorders. I am about to evaluate a patient who believes that her voice problem began shortly after starting to take Adderall. I know it can cause dry mouth. Any evidence that it can cause hoarseness or voice problems? Karen Sussman, MA, CCC-SLP

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. There is no evidence of voice change while on Aderall, but it is known to cause a dry mouth, a weird taste in the mouth as well as a changed perception of things (although rare). These may explain your patient's impression of a change in voice or the change is real and in such case, further investigation is needed.

I hope this helps.

Wishing you all the best
