Does Amoxicillin Have Any Side Effects?

I am taking amoxicillin for a respiratory issue. I started 2 1/2 days ago. I ve started to have joint pain and a rash (small circles) in a couple places on my back. I ve had a bit of diarrhea but not consistently. Should I continue using this until I can call the doctor on Monday? Thanks Karen

Hello,

I can't say about the rash but diarrhea is one of the most common side effects of amoxicillin and antibiotics in general. Joint pain and circular rash may be a diagnostic clue that your doctor would like to know. You'd better talk to your doctor as soon as possible because the antibiotic may have to be stopped or substituted for another.

I hope I've answered your question. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Kind Regards,
Dr Panagiotis Zografakis,
