Does Amoxicillin Overdose Cause Any Adverse Side Effects?
I may have accidentally taken an extra dose of amoxicillian. My pill was 875 mg and after I took my medication I thought I might have taken a dose 3 hours earlier because I thought I had an even number of pills at the end of the day. I had taken a dose at about 9 A.M.also. My doctor told me to take a pill twice a day. Either I forgot to take a pill or I took one too many. Will I have problem now? I am 65 years old and maybe I am getting a little forgetful.
I understand your concern. Assuming you actually did take an extra tablet, it is possible you may experience some nausea, stomach upset and diarrhea. There is no need for treatment of an antibiotic overdose. Make sure you take plenty of liquids if you develop diarrhea. However if these persist and do not get better, or you notice your urine as turned a dark color, please see a doctor. Keeping a pill diary is a good day to avoid this from happening in the future.
I hope this helps. Wishing you good health and all the best.
