Does Amoxicillin Trihydrate Cause Headaches?

Hello! I am taking Amoxicillin Trihydrate 500mg at the moment to treat an infection of the salivary gland. I never had any problem with taking penicillin before. However, I'm experiencing headaches like I never had before. Could there be a relation between the two? And can I take some ibuprofen with this as well for the time I'm on antibiotics? I'm 62. Thank you.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Headache as a side effect of amoxicillin intake is rarely seen but can happen in a very few people.
While it can also be a radiating pain from infected salivary glands and can be due to some other common causes like stress and needs not to be anything serious..
You can take Ibuprofen along with amoxicillin without any problem..
It will reduce your head ache as well as pain and inflammation originating from salivary glands..
In case if the Headache is persistent for a week and does not improve even with painkillers consult a General Physician and get evaluation done..
