Does Anastrozole Cause Rashes On The Legs As An Allergic Reaction?
Following treatment for breast cancer, an anti-estrogen drug (anastrozole) was prescribed for me. After taking one 1 mg. dose of this medication, I developed symptoms of an allergic reaction (rash on my legs, swelling of my face) which I treated with antihistamines. The reaction developed into a red, then massive purple rash on my legs. I am being treated with prednisone and antihistamines. I have also taken xarelto for about one year. What possibly happened here? My medical oncologist says he has never seen this happen in twenty years of practice. Help?
Understanding your concern. As per your symptoms of rashes on the legs after intake of Anastrozole. The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards allergic reaction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist without any delay. Because such allergic reaction can have certain complications like anaphylactic shock ,which can be life threatening. Doctor will treat your symptoms and may prescribe some substitute or alternate dose. You should avoid touching or pricking these rashes. Apply cold compresses on skin. Apply calamine to soothe any kind of itching.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
