hi, i just received my apicolordotic view result, Apicolordotic view confirms opacity at the right upper lobe. The lower chest show distortion which is inherent in an apicolordotic film. Conclusion: Fibroids, right upper lobe. Does this means i have TB? But i have no cough and i dont have fever too?what does this means?this might cause my pre-employment be hold. Please give me some advice on what to do..
Hello Thanks for your query. Radiology in any form cannot confirm tuberculosis. You need to have sputum smear examination for acid-fast bacilli and sputum BACTEC culture for tubercular bacilli. But in the absence of symptoms which you have mentioned the possibility of tuberculosis is unlikely. But you should undergo sputum examination. These chest X-ray finding may be a old tubercular foci the episode of which may be unnoticed by you. Pre-employment chest X-ray with this finding can hamper you but in that case you should get a certificate mentioning the inactive nature of these findings from a pulmonologist. Thank you.
