Does Ashwagandha Interact With Amlodipine, And How Significant Is The Effect On Blood Pressure?
I currently am on a medication named Amlodipine for my High Blood Pressure and I was gifted Ashwagandha tea and read that Ashwagandha can decrease your BP and interact with medications normally used for BP. My question is: How accurate is this? Will Ashwagandha interact with Amlodipine? How intense are these reactions and are these possibilities or facts? Thank you.
Yes, ashwagandha can potentially lower your blood pressure and therefore interact with your blood pressure medication. The exact decrease would be unknown because it is not a classified as a traditional medication and would not need testing to get the precise side effects that can occur. It is possible that it may not affect your blood pressure and the effect on your end blood pressure would also depend on what your reading is on Amlodipine.
If you are going to take both, it would be best to start when you are going to be at home for at least a day or two to monitor effects, it would also be best to get a blood pressure machine so you can check in on your blood pressure. As mentioned, the effect for you may be minimal or major. It is an individual reaction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
