Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my dr prescribed atenolol 50 mg....my BP during the day goes up to 170/94....at night its 155/84. my pulse was 95 during the day and around 70 at night....i am concerned that a beta blocker could cause my heart rate to go too low .....is that a valid concern ?
Hello, my name is Dr Olgeta Xhufka. I understand your concern. Atenolol is a b -blocker and its effects are to lower heart rate and blood pressure. I think your heart rate 70 is not low and you shouldn't be worried. If it is too low you should lower the dose taken. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you. Best regards.
