Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Ativan Interact With Baclofen And Gabapentin?
I am taking ativan 2 mgm & baclofen 10 mgm & gabapentin ( new order have not picked it up yet) Are there any interactions with these medications? I currently have new diagnosis of spinal stenosis of L3- L4 -severe. I have back pain. I am scheduled for an EMG & Neuro consult next month.
Hi & Welcome. Yes, Ativan can interact with these medications.
Ativan (Lorazepam) is a central nervous depressant can cause drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating, impaired thinking and motor coordination as its important side effects.
When taken along with Baclofen & or Gabapentin which also work by depressing the central nervous system may exaggerate the side effects as mentioned above. They may also cause excessive sleepiness or coma.
Hence, they should not be taken all together.
Hope these answer your query.
