Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking Bupropion XL 300 mg. per day. I also take this medication in the morning. Lately, I have seemed to appear more groggy and I get confused about things. I wondered if this is the medication that is causing me these side effects. My husband has noticed it too. I take Gabapentin 400 mg. TID. I have been on both of these medications for a long time.
Since how long you are taking these medicines? The drowsy state which you are feeling is because of gabapentin 400mg TID. Usually, it is not taken thrice daily.
But as you have been taking it since longer duration, one should not STOP them immediately. I suggest my clinic patients to lower down the dosage, by tapering the dose to twice daily and slowly reducing it every 4 to 5 days.
However, these medicines cannot be sold without the prescription of a doctor. But the condition for which you are advised these medicines is not mentioned in the history. This is used in multiple conditions so please specify the disease accordingly, we can modify the dosage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah
