Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, just been told my doctor I have a chest infection. I am a little wheezy and have had trouble breathing the last few days but went into the chemist and got a ventolin puffa and that has made a big difference, I am very dependant on cannabis and I know it s not a good idea but I was just wondering what are the risks if I were to continue smoking but cut it back?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Cannabis is one of common substance of abuse. The drug is associated with psychological dependence and it is not associated with any physical dependence. So even abrupt stoppage of use of cannabis doesn't result in withdrawal symptoms. One can experience severe craving but physical withdrawal symptoms are not seen commonly. As you have chest infection so it is not advisable to smoke marijuana or cannabis because it would delay the healing process and you will see worsening of health issues. Please continue to take your drugs of chest infection and quit the use of marijuana completely.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks, Take care
