Does Cannabis Oil Affect The Platelet Count Of A Brain Cancer Patient?

Hi, my Dad has GBM brain cancer grade 3 and since having chemo and radio has also been diagonised with ITP, he recently was administered one off dose of IV Vincristine during 5 days of radiation treatment to suppress his immune system as platelets have been down to 5 (he also been on steroids over past year between 25 to 50mg per day). They did come back 22 @2 weeks ago. we have since started him on Cannabis oil @0.5 mls per day to fight the brain cancer and his platelets have again plummeted to 5. Could the cannabis oil be affecting his platelet count again?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The ITP is the likely cause for his platelets dropping and not the cannabis oil. Its a condition that regularly recurs and needs repeated treatment for the same. I wish him well.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
