General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. Celexa (Citalopram) does not reduce the effectiveness of Implanon (Etonorgestrel) which is used for the birth-control since they donot interact with each other. Common side effects of Implanon are nausea, stomach cramping/bloating, dizziness, headache, breast tenderness, acne, hair loss, weight gain, and vaginal irritation/discharge.However I would always examine the patient if there has been severe pain or cramping in pelvic area to ensure if it is implant related.I would treat pain by using Tablet. Buscopan trice daily.Hope this answeres your question.
