Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Cipralex contains 'escitalopram', which belongs to the group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
It is used to treat depression,
obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and
generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
The side effects commonly encountered with its use include:
1. Blocked or runny nose.
2. Decreased or increased appetite.
3. Anxiety,
restlessness, difficulties falling asleep and dizziness.
4. Diarrhoea,
constipation, vomiting and dry mouth.
5. Increased sweating.
6. Pain in muscle and joints.
7.
Sexual dysfunction in the form of decreased libido, difficulty getting or keeping an erection and inability to have an orgasm.
However, it is not known to have any form of effect on menstrual cycle.
The other symptoms like feeling sleepy and difficulty in getting sleep are the side effects what you are experiencing due to intake of medication.
These symptoms should subside gradually once your body gets adapted to it. You need to seek medical attention promptly if this worsens or continues for long.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
