Does Citalopram Cause False Positive For Benzodiazepines In A Urine Drug Test?

I take Citalopram, Bactrim, Prilosec, Ibuprofen, and Naproxin. Can any of these cause a false positive on a 10 panel urine drug screen for benzos? I just took a drug test today and it came up positive for benzos and I haven t taken anything other than what I mentioned!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, escitalopram is entirely from different drug category and doesn't cause a benzo test to be positive, if detected properly, in toxin screen. However, any other intake of recreational drugs or smoking etc may interfere with the results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
