Does Climara Patch .05mg Cause Hot Flashes?

Hello. I started the Climara patch 1 week ago today and I just placed a new patch on. I was just wondering how long before I should see some relief from hot flashes etc. I have not had a hysterectomy . My dr. Put me on a.05mg patch(which sounds like a low dose). Is there a dosage lower than mine? When should I consider a higher dosage? Thank you, Rebecca

Answer: Therapy with Climara can start at the dosage 0.025 mg per day applied to the skin once weekly.
Usually therapy should be started at the lowest effective dose,but the choice deppends on the symptoms that the patient has. In your case the dose that you are having now is the most effective for you.
The dose should be adjusted as necessary to control symptoms.Attempts to taper or discontinue the medication should be made at 3 to 6 month intervals.
