Does Clindamycin Cause Adverse Side Effects?

I was given Clindamycin for an infection under a root canal. I just took my first dose with dinner. I am very concerned about the paper I read with the medication of possible death associated with this drug. I am 73 with some digestive issues but in pretty good health in general. Susan

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain, Clindamycin is an antibiotic that is given commonly in dental and other bacterial infections..
As far as the side effects or allergic reaction is concerned, each and every medication has some or the other side effects and can be allergic to some..
But everyone will have side effects and will be so fatal that will lead to death is not correct and Clindamycin causes death is not right..
It is possible in very rare cases in individuals who gets a severe allergic reaction to it..
As you have already taken your first dose and does not seems to have any problem, therefore you need not to worry and continue with the same..
You can also take empty stomach Pantoprazole or Omeprazole till you are taking antibiotics and take appropriate diet..
In case of any abnormal symptoms like rashes, itching, breathlessness, palpitations etc consult your physician ..
