Does Clindamycin Phosphate And Benzoyl Peroxide Gel Help In Treating Scar Pigmentation?
Hi, does clindamycin phosphate and/or benzoyl peroxide gel help with a bit of scar pigmentation? End of 2012 I was straightening my side bangs and the hot iron burnt my forehead a bit there was a small dark circle scar leftover. It has lightened and is not as dark as it first was years ago, however it is still there a bit.
Clindamycin and Benzoyl peroxide are mainly used in the treatment of acne. Clindamycin is an antibiotic which reduces bacterial infections. Hence, it may not have any role in reducing any dark pigmentation. Benzoyl peroxide may cause little lightening of spots. Creams like hydroquinone can be tried after consulting with your dermatologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
