Does Clonazepam Cause Physical And Emotional Side Effects?
Hi. I stopped taking clonazepam about 10-12 days ago. The physical symptoms are not bad and the mental have not been some of the horror stories that I heard, but I am just not feeling MYSELF and cannot see a doctor for three more days. What should I do? is it time to go to hospital?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and if the drug is stopped abruptly after regular prolonged intake then it results in withdrawal symptoms. In most individuals acute symptoms last for about a week. Restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, feeling of tiredness, apathy etc are common symptoms. Some times tremors, seizures, confusion, coma etc also occur. You have stopped the drug about 10-12 days back and have passed acute phase of withdrawal. The symptoms like not feeling good or weird feelings can respond to drugs like Gabapentin or Pregabalin. These medicine help to reduce the withdrawal symptoms are not addicting. Even low dose long acting benzodiazepines like Diazepam can help. Visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
