Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have used Clonidine in the past as an emergency medicine to lower pressure spikes and it worked well. I have problems with side effects of many meds so they started to prescribe Clonidine as my primary blood pressure med. was told to take 3 times daily as. Ended but if in evening blood pressure is 123-70 if I take it would it get too low? Am in process of changing Dr so do not have anyone to ask. Thanks Sandra
Taking clonidine while the blood pressure is at 123/70 can further lower blood pressure. However, whether the BP would be lowered too much will depend on the dosage of the Clonidine you are on.
You may skip the night dosage for today. And keep monitoring blood pressure to see any fluctuations. Get in touch with your doctor and discuss the need for reducing the dosage and frequency of current Clonidine prescription.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
