Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe c.o.p.d. and osteoporosis and just read side effects of Reclast infusion which my Dr. would like to schedule asap. I am a bit nervous about the effect of not breathing, flu like symptoms and I am presently taking Amoxoclave for congestion . Will this antibiotic interfere with the reclast? and or my oral steroids? Thank you. I am a bit hesitant and anxious.
Hi & Welcome. There is no documented harmful interactions between Co-Amoxiclav or oral steroids with Reclast.
Hence, these medications can be taken safely.
The common side effects of Reclast intravenous infusion include "flu-like" symptoms (e.g., fever, chills, muscle/joint aches), dizziness, headache, or pain/redness/swelling at the injection site may occur.
Most of these side effects are mild and occur within 3 days of treatment. Flu-like symptoms may be reduced by taking Paracetamol or Ibuprofen after the treatment. If any of these effects worsen or last more than 4 days you must consult your treating doctor.
Hope these answer your query.
