Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Creon Cause Stomach Ulcers And Kidney Failure?
My husband has been taking Creon for 2 years after taking Zenpap for 30 years, He has developed an ulcerated stomach and he has lost so much blood that he has had 6 pints given to him over the past 4 months. He has also developed kidney failure. Were either of these problems caused by or made worse by the Creon?
Creon is pancreatic enzymes and would not cause problems with ulcers or with kidney failure. The most common causes of ulcers are a bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori and anti-inflammatory medicines like Advil or Aleve.
Those medicines may also make kidney failure worse or even cause kidney failure. Make sure he is not taking any of those medicines, either by prescription or over-the-counter.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kathy Robinson
