Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I TOOK DEXILANT 60 MG FOR OVER 18 MONTHS. AT AGE 79. I WENT TO A DIFFERENT GASTORENTEROLOGIST BECAUSE I ASSUMED I NEEDED TO HAVE AN ENDOSCOPY TO LET ME KNOW HOW THE SMALL ULCER LOCATED AS THE ESOPHEGUS DROPS INTO THE STOMACH, WAS DOING. THIS DR TOLD ME THAT THE DEXILANT CURED THE ULCER AND SAID I DIDN'T NEED ANOTHER ENDOSCOPY. BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE OF THE DRUG I STOPPED TAKING THE DEXILANT. I WAS NOT ORDERED TO START TAKING THE DRUG AGAIN, WHEN I SAW MY NORMAL ASSISTANT PHYSCIAN.HOW WOULD THEY KNOW I DID NOT NEED THE DRUG WITH OUT THE RE-TESTING?I RARELY HAVE ACID INDIGESTION AND I DON'T KNOW IF I WAS TAKING THE DRUG FOR GERD OR GASTROENTERITIS.
