Does Diovan And Atenolol Increase Serum Uric Acid Level?

I am taking diovan 160 mg and after a recent rapid heartbeat, was proscribed 25 mg atenolo beta-blocker. As we have a family issue of gout, should I ask my doctor if we should consider changing this approach as I recently read these two drugs may increase serum uric acid?

Hi,

Diovan and atenolol could increase serum uric acid levels, as both drugs can affect kidney function. However, the best way to determine if this concerns you would be to speak with your doctor. They will be able to take into account your medical history, the reason for prescribing the two drugs, and any other medications you are taking. They may also be able to recommend alternative treatment options if necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
