Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I presently take Donepezil 5MG Tab (1 a day),and am coughing every night and can t sleep because of it. I am allergic to Ace Inhibitors, Celebrex, Relafen and Vioxx. I was wondering if one of these is coughing causing my cough. At one time I was taking something for diabetes and my medication had to be changed for it because of the coughing.Thank you. Grace Clark
As you expected, yes. Donezepil causes cough as a side effect in almost 60% of the patients. It's one of the most common side effect in people taking donezepil. More so in women and both genders above the age of 60+. If you have a coexisting heart disease and are under antihypertensives and aspirin chances are that you'll have cough more than the rest of the users.
I would advice you either to change to a more complacent drug or have your doctor give you another remedy for this side effect. Kindly report to your doctor about this.
