Does Duphaston Cause Persistent Spotting At The End Of Menstruation?

i took duphaston once a day for 10 days started last Feb 15 to Feb 24 then got my period on Feb 28. from Feb 29 to Mar 2 I have heavy period then on Mar 3 it was like a blood spotting only (like before your period ends) until now Mar 9 I still have the blood spotting. is this normal because i took duphaston? or it s not? please help me understand. thank you. i am scheduled to start taking duphaston again on Mar 15 for 10 days.

Hello dear,
Understand your concern.

Duphaston tablets 10mg tablet used for:
lack of progesterone including menstrual disorders like,
secondary amenorrhoea,
dysmenorrhoea or painful periods,
premenstrual syndrome
abnormal uterine bleeding

Following are the common side effects:
migraines, headaches,
nausea,
menstrual problem: irregular bleeding/Delyed/Spotting
breast pain/tenderness,
bloating or weight gain.
So i think spotting in your case is a drug side effects.

Also note that following are also the reason spotting:
1. High level of stress
2. Change in life style
3. Late ovulation
4. Excessive exercise
5. Drugs: Birth control pills, thyroid medication, Excessive tea and caffeine
6. Thyroid problem
7. Hormonal imbalane


Also note that
Menstruation required co ordinate action of various hormone that secreted by ovary (estrogen and progesterone) and brain (FSH and LH).
If any above hormone is decreased or increased there is imbalance in menstruation.

If not cure or problem in future.
please do full hormonal profile : Estrogen, progestron, LH, FSH, HCG and thyroid hormone.
That help to diagnose hormonal imbalance.
After confirmation you can take treatment according So please go ahead.
