Does Epsom Salts Help Relieve The Pain Of Hemorrhoids?
My husband is a post kidney transplant patient since 2001. I have known him 8years and he has always had really loose stools. Recently he has become extremely constipated and the straining has led to hemorrhoids. My mother suggested an Epsom salt bath to help with the hemorrhoids, but I am not sure of the safety. Also, do you have any suggestions for. The constipation?
Hello there, Epsom salt baths will relieve the hemorrhoids to a large extent. Also a hemorrhoid cream will soothe your husband and can be applied post the salt bath. For the constipation I will suggest a diet that includes ripe bananas and papayas. The fruits will soften the stool making it easy to pass them and also have a mild stimulant effect on the colon leading to better bowel function. You can also add fresh homemade yoghurt to his diet. Avoid cheese, processed meats and instead switch to greens and salads.
Considering his kidney transplant I do not think its advisable to give him pills to aid his stools as they may cause rapid changes in his electrolytes which the kidney might find hard to regulate.
Hope this helps, Please feel free to address any further queries to me, I will gladly answer them.
