Hi,
Estradiol is a form of estrogen, a natural female sex hormone that is used in the treatment of menopause symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal changes such as
vaginal dryness, burning or itching etc., and in the prevention of
osteoporosis or bone loss in menopausal women which are caused by the body making less estrogen. But, like other medications, Estradiol has some side effects too. It may cause swelling of lips, tongue, throat, face, eyes, hands or feet due to retention of fluids.
It may also cause headache, sweating, unusual tiredness and weakness, exhaustion, fatigue, lack of energy, dizziness,
drowsiness, breast tenderness and enlargement, mood swings,
depression, allergic reactions etc. These side effects are mild and self limiting as well as go away eventually as your body adjusts to this medication. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor first for
medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
